The entire process is free – both in store and on the app at home. You will never be charged to use the technology or to keep your data stored with us in either location.

FiTMAP® Scanning Technology is now more accessible than ever. It is available in select DXL locations nationwide and for use at home via the DXL app.
For an in-store scan, come in to a DXL store offering FiTMAP® Sizing Technology and ask one of our Certified Fit Experts to assist you in getting your scan. They’ll bring you to a dedicated, private fitting room where you’ll operate the easy-to-use scanner with a push of a button.
Or start your scan at home simply by downloading the DXL app (or updating to the latest version) and accessing FiTMAP via your Account in the app.
Please note that no scan includes any facial features – we are only interested in making sure that your size measurements for clothing are captured.
Absolutely. All the information we collect will be stored safely and securely and never shared with anyone.
Scan measurements and size recommendations are saved within your DXL profile. Scan images are automatically deleted from the system after 120 days, but your measurements and size recommendations will remain in your FiTMAP® Custom Size Profile on the DXL app.
To request that your scan and profile be deleted from our database, you may speak to an associate in a DXL store or contact our Guest Engagement Center at 855-746-7395.
Five minutes or less. The scanning process itself only takes about a minute. From there, the data takes 2-3 minutes to be uploaded to your account in the DXL app. Your size recommendations will be included across 25+ top brands so you can get shopping almost immediately!
The scanning app will detect clothing and will warn you that your measurements will not be accurate and will ask you to confirm or cancel. If you proceed, the scanning will be restarted and measurements will be returned although they will not be accurate.

While conventional tape measure methods are still effective for basic dimensions, our FITMAP® Sizing Technology maps 242 individual points of measurement on your body, providing a level of unrivaled accuracy and consistency.
At Home Scanning with the DXL App
On your iOS device, go to the App Store and search for DXL Big + Tall. Then select Get to download. Once downloaded, open the DXL app and go to Account in the lower right corner to sign in or create an account to access the scanning technology.
Once you are signed into your account on the DXL app and you have completed your body scan, click ‘FiTMAP Custom Sizing Profile” on the Account tab. Your size recommendations and your measurements will be displayed here. On the 'Measurements' tab, you can select to see measurements from any previous scan by clicking on the down arrow next to 'Latest Scan'.
Unfortunately, not yet. This scanning app is currently only available on iOS (Apple) devices. DXL plans to have this app available for Android devices sometime in the future.
If your scan is not working properly, please check the following:
- You are using an iOS device
- The device is running iOS 18 or higher
- You have the latest version of the DXL app (9.3.0)
- You are wearing only boxer briefs or compressions shorts.Any clothing beyond that will result in an unsuccessful scan
- You have 6 to 10 feet between you and the device
- The device is on a level surface and knee or waist height.There are two circles at the top of the screen will turn green when the phone is positioned correctly.
- Your location is well lit.

Prop up your device on a stable surface (like a chair) between knee and waist height. Try to keep phone upright as much as possible. There are two circles at the top of the screen will turn green when the phone is positioned correctly.
Be sure to have the volume on your phone turned up so that you can hear the audio instructions being provided by the virtual assistant in the app. The assistant will provide specific instructions for where to stand and what to change about your pose.
For now, custom clothing orders must be placed in store.
