Hitting the links this weekend? Car shopping? If you’ve got a standing tee time and are in the market for a new ride, we’ve road-tested our clubs in some of the most fitting models on the lots and are offering up suggestions.
We could have made this list easy and simply named SUVs, Cross-overs and wagons…but we weren’t about to take the easy way out…
Dodge Challenger
Not only do you get the Challenger’s fierce styling and the roar of the V8 HEMI (if you opt for it), but there is a surprising amount of trunk space, 16.2 cubic feet to be exact. Plenty of room for four bags and all your passengers.
Volkswagen Golf
Come on, it’s in the name! But for a compact car—the Golf has some great space. You can easily fit two bags in the cargo area and yes, you could fit more if you folded the seats down…but then the passengers wouldn’t fit. Still, for a couple of golfers (maybe even three), this compact VW is a solid choice.
Chevrolet Impala
My father-in-law proved to me that his Impala probably has the roomiest trunk I’ve seen in years. We easily loaded up gear for our foursome and had plenty more room in the cabin for our passengers. The Impala feels more refined and certainly is not your grandpa’s car.
Ford Taurus
After all these years, it’s easy to forget the Taurus…but if you’re an avid golfer and you need a comfortable car that seats four+ along with four golf bags, then the Taurus may be what you’re looking for. With just over 20 cubic feet of trunk space–there’s plenty of bag space plus lots of legroom in the backseat.
Chevrolet Corvette
A sports car…for golfers? Sure! On the surface it may seem a little crazy, but when you look at the standard Corvette, you see that there are 15 cubic feet of trunk space (almost as much as the five-passenger Dodge Challenger). Plenty of room for two sets of clubs…and since it’s a two-seater, that works out perfectly!
How do you like to get to the green in style?
