2015 has already started out as a great year for tech…and there’s more on the way! If you’re one of those types that wants to be connected everywhere you go, you’ll find some goodies to help you do just that. Looking for the highest quality TV you can get without taking out a second mortgage on the house? We’ve got you covered. From wearables to streaming TVs, here’s all the tech you’ll be checking out (and picking up) in 2015.
Sure, the new smart watch from Apple isn’t the first of its kind on the market, but with the biggest tech company in the world putting it out, this is the only one anybody will be interested in buying. You’ll be able to send and receive messages, calls, and email, use GPS, monitor your fitness, play music and much more. It’s real technology on the move, in the form of a watch. The best part is, you can customize the watch to have the specific look and style that fits your needs.
Virtual Reality Headsets
The promise of virtual reality headsets has been a long time coming. Many companies have tried, but few have been able to get quite as far as Oculus Rift and Project Morpheus. These headsets allow you to step into the world of your favorite games and virtual worlds from the comfort of your couch.
These devices work similar to your own eyes, sending “unique and parallel images” to each of your eyes, which provide the ultimate in depth and immersion. Project Morpheus will connect to your PS4, and it is purported to be released sometime in 2015. Oculus Rift was recently purchased by Facebook, so you can expect it to be all over your news feed when it hits stores, like Morpheus, later in 2015.
New cars are coming with all the bells and whistles – built-in touch screens, GPS, bluetooth, and rear view cameras. That’s all well and good if you have a new car, but how are you going to hook up your 1996 Celica with the latest cutting edge tech? Upgrade the stereo. There are new stereos from Alpine and Pioneer that deeply integrate with your cell phones, allowing you to mirror your GPS, music, phone calls and movies (when stationary, folks) with ease.
If that’s not enough, the folks at Apple came up with CarPlay – the deepest in-car integration with your mobile device you’ll find anywhere. CarPlay makes it easy to do most of the important things you do with your iPhone, only hands-free.
We all want the most cutting edge tech in our living rooms, even if there’s not a HUGE difference between what’s new and what we already own. Now I’m not saying that upgrading to a 4K television isn’t going to be better (it will: higher detail, depth, vibrancy of color, and bigger sizes), it just might be that if you have a TV that’s a year or so old, waiting a while to move up to 4K could be beneficial. That way, you’re letting the rest of the technology around it catch up.
Besides, if you wait a bit longer, prices on this kind of TV will fall, and you’ll be able to pick one up fairly affordably.
That’s just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the tech you’ll need to pick up in 2015.
What have we missed?
